Monitoring mast with solar panel being repositioned across a demolition site

Relocation of monitoring positions as projects progress

Monitoring rarely stays in one place for the life of a project. NVD moves the installation, re-establishes power and connectivity, recommissions it and records the change.

How a relocation runs

Down carefully, checked, back up and confirmed working

A relocation is a full reinstallation, not a lift and shift. It is treated with the same discipline as the original deployment.

  1. 01

    Remove safely

  2. 02

    Inspect

  3. 03

    Reinstall

  4. 04

    Recommission & report

What is covered

The practical work of moving a monitoring point

Safe removal

Equipment taken down from the existing position without damage to the instrument, its mounting or the structure it was fixed to, and the old location left tidy.

Inspection before relocation

Condition of the instrument, enclosure, cabling, battery, solar and mounting hardware checked before it goes back up, so a known problem is not reinstalled.

New mounting & location

Reinstallation at the position instructed by the customer or project, using mounting appropriate to the new structure, exposure and expected duration.

Power & connectivity

Power arrangements and communications re-established for the new position, including antenna placement where signal conditions differ.

Recommissioning & checks

System restarted and configured as instructed, then confirmed reporting correctly before NVD leaves site.

Updated records

New geolocation, fresh photographic record and a clear report back to the appointing organisation so the project record stays accurate.

Where this comes up

Changing project environments across the UK

Relocation is instruction-led: the customer, project team or appointed specialist decides where monitoring needs to be, and NVD carries out the move and reports back.

  • Work fronts moving across a construction site
  • Demolition phases changing what is exposed and accessible
  • Infrastructure and highways works progressing along a route
  • Rail environments where access windows and positions change
  • Boundary or hoarding changes affecting the existing position
  • Instructions to reposition following project or stakeholder requirements
